AFMA SUPPORTS WORLD BEE DAY 2021

AFMA is pleased to announce its partnership with the Wheen Bee Foundation in support of WORLD BEE DAY 2021.

In effect, AFMA and supportive farmers’ markets across Australia will be buzzing with activities to raise awareness of the vital role bees play in our food chain. We need bees. Farmers need bees to pollinate our food plants. We need bees for food security and to support biodiversity and eco-systems.

As World Bee Day is a Thursday farmers’ markets are invited to celebrate and support this initiative for a whole week from 15 – 23 May, straddling two weekends and World Bee Day.

PLANT NURSERY BIOSECURITY SURVEY

Farmers Market Plant Biosecurity Survey

AFMA is collaborating with Greenlife Australia to help facilitate this important plant biosecurity survey.  If you have a nursery and sell seedlings, plants or trees at farmers’ markets, please read on to support this important initiative.

Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA) is the peak industry body representing greenlife growers, independent retailers and allied input suppliers nationally.

A major priority area for GIA is to improve awareness and preparedness of nursery operators in relation to biosecurity.

We are hoping to learn more about the size of the farmers market channel for greenlife (seedlings, shrubs, trees) to help inform our biosecurity strategic planning.

This survey will take 5 mins of your time and you are able to remain anonymous however, we encourage you to provide your email address so we may share relevant biosecurity information including alerts as they arise.  Thank you in advance for your support.
