AUSTRALIA’s 2020 MOST OUTSTANDING FARMERS’ MARKET TROPHY
…GOES TO MULLUMBIMBY FARMERS’ MARKET (NSW)
It’s become an institution on Friday mornings at the Mullumbimby Showground at the foot of Mt Chincogan – when up to 70 local farmers and food producers gather to showcase and sell the bountiful seasonal produce of the NSW Northern Rivers.
Mullumbimby Farmers’ Market is 10 years old and thriving, an authentic well-managed and pivotal weekly link in the region’s local food chain. Today it was recognised as Australia’s Most Outstanding Farmers’ Market by the judges of the 2020 Delicious Produce Awards, supported by Harvey Norman.
Shop here and you will be treated to Bangalow potatoes, Byron miso and tempeh, Brunswick Head eggs, pastured pork, organic veggies, olive oil, heritage poultry, Dorper lamb and Nimbin pecans and rice – and that’s just the short shopping list.
The market trades every Friday from 7am – 11am rail, hail or shine.
Congratulations to the Mullumbimby Farmers’ Market manager, its stallholders and loyal local shoppers.
Congratulations too to the other Finalist Markets – Alphington Farmers’ Market (VIC) and Kiama Farmers’ Market (NSW) which also headline the best practice and provenance of authentic farmers’ markets.
There are over 200 farmers’ markets trading regularly in all states. The first Australian farmers’ market commenced trading in 1999 in Victoria.
