FARMERS’ MARKETS CREATE A BUZZ FOR BEES

Farmers’ Markets across Australia will be creating a Buzz For Bees in celebration of World Bee Day 2021 (20 May) an initiative promoted by the Wheen Bee Foundation in conjunction with campaign partner, the Australian Farmers’ Markets Association.

Their market day activities are intended to highlight the significance of bees in our food supply and will span 10 days from 15 – 23 May.

Expect to see shoppers and stallholders wearing yellow, bee talks, honey tastings, Waggle dancing for the kids, breakfast honey muffins, bee friendly plants and much more to make a resonating buzz at farmers’ markets in all states.

The Wheen Bee Foundation has extended the deadline for market managers to lodge their WE NEED BEES Market Day activities to 8 May 2021. [Or 15 May if your event is happening the following week.]

AFMA SUPPORTS WORLD BEE DAY 2021

AFMA is pleased to announce its partnership with the Wheen Bee Foundation in support of WORLD BEE DAY 2021.

In effect, AFMA and supportive farmers’ markets across Australia will be buzzing with activities to raise awareness of the vital role bees play in our food chain. We need bees. Farmers need bees to pollinate our food plants. We need bees for food security and to support biodiversity and eco-systems.

As World Bee Day is a Thursday farmers’ markets are invited to celebrate and support this initiative for a whole week from 15 – 23 May, straddling two weekends and World Bee Day.
